Combat system SUCKS!
What a way to ruin what seemed like such a promising and beautiful game! Ugh the combat mechanics are cumbersome and beyond frustrating. Ive played three battles and already I cannot stand it. Theres just absolutely nothing enjoyable about it.
I cant even beat levels that are "easy as pie". Theres no apparent way to refill your mana, which is apparently required to beat the bat, even though the hint says "Flying enemies can be reached with physical attacks". Im guessing they actually meant *cant*. Really helpful hint there guys.
So I cant even beat this level 1 bat or whatever because by the time I wait for my fireball to recharge enough times to kill it (since it takes about five hits and I cant use a physical attack) Ive been killed by this apparently incredibly strong bat. 30 damage in one strike?? And the freaking thing stays alive even if I *do* manage to get its health bar down to nothing!
So yeah did I mention frustrating?
And while Im ranting, why do these games all require you to place buildings manually? I mean this isnt The Sims. Now I have to spend time to try and make my town look good. Its just work! You dont give me nearly enough tools and decorations to make the effort worthwhile. All I can do is move buildings around and try to make it not look like garbage.
Now I can tell you guys have spent a lot of time on this because its really quite polished. The problem is in the game mechanics and design. It needs serious work. Unfortunately I think Ive given up on it. What a poor first impression.
